SMARTSOUND®

TDM has partnered with Gilden Research, an independent research company to present SMARTSOUND®.

SMARTSOUND® acts as a PA pre-amplifier, using a noise sensing microphone to adjust the volume of announcements according to the surrounding noise.
The Processor samples the magnitude of prevailing background noise and adapts the audio level of the associated PA system so that announcements are always intelligible whilst not being objectionable to local residents.

SMARTSOUND® is able to adjust the PA sound level whilst an announcement is being broadcast. For example, if a long message is being announced at a railway station, the system will increase the sound level to compensate for a passing train and then reduce the level again when the train noise has passed, all within the same announcement.

The processor unit fits easily into an existing PA installation and is connected between the usual input source and the main amplifier. Existing wiring is utilised, making the installation of SMARTSOUND® straightforward without the need for extensive civils works. The microphone is located in a suitable position for sampling the background noise.
